After around seven 12ies have been sacrificed to my dropout, I have changed out the puncture seal. Who know if I made it better, may have even made it worse. I'll call Mike Monday and order some new ones. But, here's a video so you can understand what I'm talking about. I was really having to crank the thing at the end to got it to seal and stop leaking. That's on a brand new puncture pin seal too.

Anybody? Maybe I need a whole new puncture pin assembly?

that might be it. If the tip of the pierce pin is damaged/chipped it might be hissing a little before it punctures all the way. Right now I have a 12ie in my dropout (for raccoon defense), but next time I crack a new 12g I'll pay closer attention to the duration/intensity of discharge. Honestly though, from the video it doesn't sound that bad. I probably have comparable loss on my dropout when charging a 12g. B.R. is spot on about the bucket vs. dropout and the effect that the steepness of threads has on charging.

The ultimate Q is, is this loss significant/a problem? I know that many of us are tuning these nelsons to the edge of efficiency, but how much co2 was lost? Was it even a shots worth? Best of luck, hope this helps.

I have a couple of dropout changer guns and they hiss a little when I change out 12 grams and sometimes hiss again after a couple of shots and need another twist. I change out about every 20 shots or two games, whichever comes 1st. @@

Talked to Mike today (had to order a few small things). Anyways, he said you just gotta be quick with it, that loss is normal.

However, he also said he is working on lever changers!!!
This has got me all worked up, as I have always wanted a lever changer since I saw one. I just can't find them, and if I do, they are really expensive. Mike said his price point was around $25, which is also awesome to hear.
He didn't have an ETA though, as he is really busy with other stuff. Anyways, thought I'd share with everyone.

Just to add to your original question...I kinda like the angle. If you're shooting flat you don't have to rock the gun, just cock it and the balls tend to drop in.
