CCI Phantom 10733 - Alive Again

I got this phantom as a throw in on a trade sometime last year. Completely out of order. Every internal part was rusted up, and there was a lot of something caked inside of it. I suspect this was old oil based paint that had dried inside.

Just scrubbed (and scrubbed and scrubbed) out the inside of it with GooBGone, then with Acetone, and a dish scrubby on a dowel. I replaced the internals and power tube and its running now! I plan to play with it this weekend.

Extra special thanks to Mike Cassidy for finding me the feed tube adapter and brass sight pin. The brass pin really completes the look. As always, he is a great guy to deal with. I ordered Monday (very early) and got my parts today.

UPDATE! Detents!

So I have gone ahead and drilled my phantom for a fishing line detent.
Used my smallest drill bit and went to town. Then went up a couple sizes and made a recess for the knot to lay. It is held in by the frame. Very easy mod and as far as my early testing goes, works great. I heartily recommend it.

That's a beauty, good work. I got a 98 Custom with similar problems inside and I know how it feels to fix a marker up good as new again

It does feel good. I am planning to do a fishing line detent mod on it. But I am hoping to see a picture of where others have drilled before I do.

She's mine now. You did a great job on the detent and it works very good. I don't have any double feed or rollout problems. One of my buddies did but I just think he wasn't used to the pumpstroke of a phantom. He's a CCM guy. I may be trying this on one of my other phantoms.
