Wild West Phantom

This a build in progress that I'm doing for a member here and I think many of you will really enjoy it. I'll be sure to update this thread as progress continues.

This is going to be a lever action phantom and there's quite a bit of work left to do until it gets there, but the outside shaping of the stock is just about finished, once I complete the inletting and such, I'll do a finish sanding on the stock to remove the small scratches caused by the heavier sanding paper. I'll also finish the shaping around the trigger and a few other areas once I get the trigger in and can see the final look of it. So far it's coming along very well, especially for the first stock I've ever created from a true blank.

What it was...

Looks awesome!

Is that a modified henry lever or did you make that lever loop yourself?

when you figure out how to make the lever work I would love to know, been wanting to do one for a long time.

I'd copy CCM's idea with the Cam arm. Will probably need to fab a piece to screw on the end of the cocking rod that has a slot that a pin, attached to the lever, can freely maneuver but still allow it to cock the phantom. Easiest option that I can think of, after all everything is KISS.

GL with the build. Depending on how it goes I maybe interested in one as well. Especially if you make octagonal breaches and barrels to complete the effect.

Yep, the method we planned on was an external cocking lever similar visually to the CCM cam arm, except the arm will probably be tacked onto the end of the pin with a welder rather than screwed on.

I'm going to see how this build goes before I start offering this as a service.

I was going to ask if you could do this to my rifle phantom but now I'm sure I will. Dammit another project idea....

Bull Dog 05-13-2012 02:39 PM

I will be watching this one closely.

Where did you purchase the lever?
