So today I finally got in a piece of aluminum large enough to begin prototyping the lever action design I've been working on. Still plenty of work to be done including radiusing the front (will be radiused twice similar to the back), adding the additional radius to the lever pivot point as well as machining out the inside. Then of course there's machining the slide, lever, etc, etc, etc. Hopefully the majority of the housing will be finished tomorrow. With this design, the trigger and lever mechanism will all be hidden inside the stock and the lever mechanism will utilize the phantoms existed pump action design so it should require no modification to the phantom body or bolt (Thank goodness, drilling phantom bolts in a pita)

Dan, considering the AMAZING work that you did for me, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this turns out... I'll get some pics posted up of my project (still haven't come up w/ a name for it yet ) as soon as I finish up the anodizing.

Do you do your own anodizing Short? If so, we may have to trade work for one and other some time.

In other news, I got the group inletted, come out well. Depending on how the design works, I'm going to look into possible creating the trigger group from 2 pieces of aluminum instead of one, machining a 1/4" slot through the piece is not exactly easy or efficient on a manual mill. This will also reduce material cost and may allow me to adopt the design better for fitting it into a stock. This hunk of aluminum has sure lost some weight though.

Yeah I've got a home-ano set up I put together, but I only started a year ago. But, I've had some GREAT results so far (and of course a couple of trial-and-error results as well)... I haven't attempted anything fancy yet, just matte and polished single color finishes. I'm hoping to get my ano-line set back up in my garage this weekend (it's still broken down from the move back to CO). Like I said, I'll definitely post up some pics when the Phantom's done (I REALLY got to think up a name for it! LOL... maybe I'll post a "Help me name it" thread after it's done )

Oh, and it's looking awesome w/ the inletting... I can already see it coming together!

Very nice, I've been wanting to get an anodizing setup for quite awhile now... Was going to last summer but the funding to do so never quite came around.

On another note, after getting cleaned up after working in the shop machining the housing, I became bored and went back into the shop to begin work on the bolt sled/connector... Time to go get cleaned up again.

Haha... and here I'd prefer to have the milling skizzles you have over the skills w/ the chemicals! LOL...

And I LOVE the slide concept you're going w/ here! I may or may not have just gotten a little semi when I saw those pics w/ the slide mechanism... so many toys so little $
