It's totally possible it's a defective pierce pin. If none of the solutions we mentioned work, you could contact CCI and let them know the issues you're having, they're pretty good about responding and working with you.

As far as I could tell, the pierce pin has not changed visually since I received it.

Any RANDOM possibility that I got a dull pierce pin from factory?

Aside from that, I would have to wait for 12g shipments, as there's no local lelands for sale.
Definite issue. I am able to swap out a 12 gram with my dropout without ever letting go of the grip frame with my primary hand to change a 12vie. Just unscrew, drop flip, insert, tighten knob, shoot.

Comparing your pics to my dropout, it looks like your pin is flattened or sheared, so you're going to have to order a new one from CCI. However, it may not have been natively defective and you have a bad lot of 12gs. I would suggest not using any more of whichever box you used the first few punctures.

Problem solved!

Snowzone (who I bought it from) graciously hand delivered a replacement pierce pin to me. It definitely looked sharper, and fixed the problem!

MUCH easier to pierce now... Guess it was just a dull pin.

Thanks to everyone for their help!
