Black Magic Cup Seals

So, I ended up buying a couple from Carter thinking they would get used at some point. What's the benefit, if any, in using them in a Phantom, and what is required to make them work?

I like how they are one piece.

Will they thread into a standard Phantom powertube?

yup, they are unthreaded plastic, you create your own threads. Other than nostalgia, they create excellent seals, are extremely durable and the plastic can withstand the temperature extremes typically experienced by co2 powered systems. I just bought some too, so I don't know this from experience. This is just a repetition of the hype I have heard (back in the day).

And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

They are pretty indestructable. I got one for the spyder in 02 and put it in a zeus. 8 years, 1,000s of 12grams and 2 zeus' later it was still going strong. IMO, they bounce less and give an extra shot or so.

Sounds interesting. I wonder if they could be tapped for a larger cci powertube. I'm running a large powertube to see what I can do to help in project Leprechaun.

Stock class = 12grams and a stick feed. End discussion.

the inside diameter is no doubt suited to fit 6-32 and 8-32, which have a difference of .020"... 10-32 however is no doubt too much of a stretch, and will deform the hell out of the seal resulting in the face not being flat, so it may not seal... if you can even get it on there at all. for your reference:

common thread IDs:
6-32: 0.111"
M4: .130"
8-32: 0.136"
10-32: 0.160"

as you can see, big jump up to 10-32... so if you're planning on using Wizbaas PT with one of these you will need to modify the cupseal for the larger thread... which may pose a problem considering the type of material they are made of.

Ya I thought that might be a problem. I have several old Delrin cup seals that I tried and they would work but I think I'll stick with the original cup seal. Not enough of a change/improvement to merit the risk of an in game failure.
