Considering a phantom.

Hey guys, I've returned to the sport yet again. Ive always wanted a phantom, now I am considering one and I have a simple question. Im looking into getting a drop out stock class, only thing i really want though is instead of the opening for the 12 gram facing down....would it be possible to have it turned 1/4 turn counter clock wise so that it is facing out the right side of the marker? It looks like they all just drop out of the bottom.

There is someone (here on mcb) who had a dropout turned to the side by putting in new threads for the thumbscrew, rotated appropriately. Otherwise, the only stock option is straight down.

Could also get a back bottle and a screw in dropout adapter. Those aren't all that hard to find.

I had asked Mike about it a while back when I was looking at getting a Phantom. IIRC it is possible the have the hole rotated either 90 degrees to the left or to the right. Just throw Mike an email or a phone call, he's always great at communicating with customers and setting them up!

SuperStanchy did the one that faced left. He drilled a hole and made a new stainless insert for the screw. I'm assuming you're referring to the one that was up for sale a few weeks ago.

I haven't seen it done....just makes more sense to me to turn it so it is easier to drop one in and fire it up with out having to turn the marker upside down. I'll have to get in contact with Mike and will update the thread once I have done so.

I have a regular dorpout changer and I dont have to turn the marker upside down I just hold in the 12g while I turn the knob until its tight enoug hto let go. I do see why having it left would be easier though, if they made them production I would get one.

Same here, it's not really a big deal.
Or tilt it at an angle forward and the 12 gram usually sits pretty securely. It doesn't just flail in the wind or anything like that.

Agreed, I point my marker down anyway when I'm not shooting, so the motion is identical for me. Unscrew dropout, drop 12g, point down and insert. Tighten down, and go again..

I'm just waiting on Mike's Lever changers. Wonder if he finished them...

Nope. He said at least another month or two, still in the testing phase.
