Interesting, my barrel was done by O'Dells years ago. Have never had a problem with mine.

That said, I just picked up another Phantom and I'm going to have SSC bore it. Cheaper than a Fibur and it's just a plain black barrel. If it breaks again, then I'll spend the money for a Fibur.

Is that a problem, and will it affect where the bolt seats against the barrel when in the forward position? My Phantom is insanely accurate and I don't want to mess with its mojo, but I do need to stop the ball rollouts!

Nope. The insert itself will take the place of the now missing barrel shank.

if rollouts are an issue and you are worried about your barrel either get detent rings (the $5 soln) or get a detent mod, i know asp does one and i think SSC does one as well but they are pricy. but if you have a one of a kind anno barrel its a safer option. personally i havent had an issue with my freak bored barrel and ive put many cases of paint through it (phantom)

the phantom barrels have the oring groove that is a little thin, but safe enough to bore

the throat of the barrel is too thin, and it does break off when you bore it, and that's why the insert looks like it is sticking out of a bored barrel

I have done close to 200 phantom barrels, and about 450 barrels in total

Thatll stop rollouts, but you get garbage efficiency with super small paint.

well yah those are just to stop rollouts. if you want good efficiency get it bored for freak inserts, or pick up an ifit kit and lastly you can get sized barrels like Flasc or Lapco.
