Opinions on UC Kits for a Phantom

Looking to get an under cocking kit for my phantom but there are a lot of different companies out there. Anyone with experience with them I'd love your opinion.

ya i dug through the forums and each thread devolves into a trouble shoot for a certain kit or a whine fest over someone's kit that didn't work.

my concern with these kits if getting them anno matched. My phantom is CCI acid wash black and blue and I don't want to break up that color scheme. Thats why I considered Mike's UC kit due to color and price but reviews are saying it isn't much better than the stock pump kit so I'm wary to purchase it.

And this didn't raise any red flags about undercocking kits with you?

There is a reason all these Phantom UC threads get complaints. Over the years I've tried quite a few UC kits - the CCI kit, the Vanguard kit (similar to Rainman's), the Wevo kit and the Desert T1 kit. My goal wasn't to make my Phantom look cool. I needed a UC kit to accommodate the TechT iFit kit adapter. Every single one had the same problem. They all came loose during the rigors of game play.

Out of all the kits I tried, the Desert T1 was the most stable, but only with the addition of a pump arm shim. Even with a shim the kit still worked its way loose over time. I also tried adding both loc-tite and lock washers to all the kits. Again, it was only a short-term fix.

Some UC kits also present another issue. They block where the front thumb screw goes, so you need to replace the thumb screw with a regular screw (Phillips, Allen, etc.). This makes dissassembly more difficult - sometimes really difficult on VSCs where the UC kit and the ASA adapter block access to the screw.

Until someone designs a UC kit that won't ever work loose and lets you easily use the CCI thumb screw, then you'll continue to read the same complaints in UC threads. Sorry for the "whine fest", but when you ask for opinions, you're not always going to get glowing, positive comments. Especially if none are warranted.

I use the Rainman kit, and I highly recommend it. I have used a couple CCI kits, and they don't feel right to me. They are too small and maybe, bouncy?

The cci kit works fine for me. It is a bit small but it keeps the weight down and profile small

CCI kit is a no go because it really isn't an improvement over the stock pump besides allowing to use larger OD barrels. And Slim the whine fest I'm talking about is someone has a bad experience with one kit and thinks everyone else is lying when they say it works fine. I'm tall with a long reach and the stock pump just isn't comfortable and it has way to much slop. Even some of my single pump arm cockers don't twist that bad.

I'm 6'3" with long arms myself. You would HATE the CCI UC kit as it is TINY - like a baby's pinkie. That's another thing I've found is that the majority of UC pump handles were very small.

Have you checked out the NEW Rainman pump kit? I haven't used it, but it looks interesting. The best part looks to be that it could use an extended thumb screw (possibly), and has dual guide rods.

There is a used one HERE for $90 beans. IMHO, all of these kits need to stabilize on the side of the trigger frame, not just the top and bottom. From what I've experienced, these kits loosen from the pump action of wiggling from side to side.

I tried them, I never liked them.
If a Phantom needed one, it would come with the gun when you bought it.

"Punisher" started all this UC nonsense.........................
