Phantom Barrel outside diameter change?

I've been away from paintball for about 13 years and recently decided to get back into it. After reading about paint size shrinking I sent away my SC body to get the o-ring detent mod, purchased a set of freak inserts and a used bored barrel. I figured I would be all set and ready to play, Wrong. Nothing fits... Did Mike change barrel sizes (OD)? Did I waste money/time sending away my old body?

Post the specifics of the items you are running. Many people run undercocking kits and some barrels require it or a new pump due to variances in barrel OD. I am not a fan of undercocking and find this a pain in the ***. I wish deadly wind would produce a phantom barrel with the correct OD. Stock phantom barrel OD should be .875 inches.

If you have a VERY old body and a newer barrel...there is a chance the threading is just ever so slightly off.

The threading changed ever so slightly at one point and the new barrels don't fit the old bodies...it can be fixed by someone who knows how to just slightly shave down the barrel threads.

Ah, I thought that body seemed a little tight when I mounted it on the fixture - I should have looked into it further. Mike did have a run of bodies a number of years back that were machined using the wrong go/no-go gauges, and they're caused issues with some barrels.

Snipe78, send me back your body and I'll exchange it with a brand new one with the detent mod, no charge (I should have one as a reference 'incorrect' body). Better than trying to shave down threads on barrels.

Thanks a lot Have Blue!!! I mailed it out to you earlier today . I also spoke with Mike and he said the same thing. I had a bad one for a batch 13 years ago. Mike also offered to exchange it for me, you really can't beat Phantom customer service.

Wow, that's two of those I've heard of lately. My buddy bought a backup for his regular Phantom off local Craigslist and got one of these, called Mike C to ask if there's a reason, and he swapped the body for a new one as well.

I think the best part of working with Phantoms is that the people who make and mod them seem to be stand up guys.
