Anyone have issues getting re-anno?

I bought another project phantom that I plan on re-annoing. I've read that people may have ran into issues with the pressing in of the inserts etc. Has anyone reannod and what was your experience? Also where did you send it?

After all the glowing praise here on MCB about Tonsixers in Canada, I attempted contacting them about this very question, and received zero response. I sent 2 MCB PMs and one Facebook PM. When a vendor can't be bothered to reply to a simple question, then it raises a flag in my book about their ability to follow through on any work.

After Tonsixers fell through, I found FX anodizing. I haven't contacted them yet, but am planning on doing so. Seems like they have a good rep so far. I need bare aluminum ano'd in addition to getting a factory CCI silver dust/matte re-ano'd, so I'm hoping they can help, and getting a re-ano done won't be an issue.

I went through tonsixers before having none of the contact problems Slim had. I recall him posting that they were not taking orders now because they are back logged. For me (Hawaii) here and back took about 2.5 weeks and he sent pictures before shipping. Everything was packed well and he contacted me a lot about shipping and the project. My project phantom came back just as I imagined it.

But you should know I did have a little trouble with my barrel threads as this was a roundhead barrel. After anodizing the barrel had a hard time screwing in, the ano might have been slightly caked on the threads. I asked ASP to chase the threads and its fine! That was the only area that had any trouble

Issues pressing in inserts? They are threaded in. There are a few threads buried in the cci section and ask the experts on removal of the inserts prior to anodizing.

Try Caustic Customs, Stephen does great work.
As for the inserts in the body, their Heli-coils. You will have to remove them before you get the body done. If you go all out and get the removal tool the threads should be okay after you remove the insert (I have done it on parts at work). You just have to be careful when you do, once the body is done simply install a new insert (buy the installation kit, it will come with the inserts and the mandrel to install them).

Yes, I've heard really good things about Caustic Customs as well. I think he may be smaller and newer to the anodizing market, but from what I've seen so far, everything looks great.

Great points and advice about the body inserts. I forgot all about how those would need to be removed prior to ano, and then reinstalled afterwards.

I don't know if I'm qualified to use such precision tools, Stanch.

Oh my reply was pretty off topic. I had a raw body and valve. Thankfully they were not installed before ano. Getting them in was really easy, just loctited the helicoils and screwed them in with the thumbscrews. No problems with threading like I had with the barrel.
