Hi, Me Again, Barrel Question This time.

Well, I just got my barrel freak bored by SSC. Now, I have several questions:
1) What is the original bore of the Phantom Barrel. I didn't have a set of calipers on hand before I sent it in so.. yeah if someone could help me out with that that would be great.
2) I'm currently using aluminum inserts and for some of the inserts they are a bit though to slide in. Is this ok? Should I be worried about an insert getting stuck?
3) Related to question #2: Should I spring for the deadlywinds CF barrel? I've seen some videos and the inserts seem to slide in and out relatively easily. (I know, more of a personal opinion thing but... yeah)

Anyways, Thanks!

As far as inserts not sliding in easy, that's normal. It's the quality control on smart parts/gog's end. It's probably why the freak backs use o rings to hold the insert. Maybe put a bit of oil (or graphite powder/spray/teflon spray/etc) on the outside of the insert if you're concerned about it getting stuck.

For springing, spring for best efficiency.

depends on the year your barrel was made, most are .687 or .689

really old ones are bigger

not all freak inserts are the exact same size on the outside, sometimes they can be a little bigger than others

if you use a piece of fine sandpaper and rub the laser etching, it normally takes a .001 or .002 off and lets them slide better

just dont FORCE one in the bore, they will stick and then you have an issue

If you do get a bore stuck in, I'll bet you could use a rubber wine bottle stopper with a lever on top to pull it out.

That's a pretty fantastic idea.
