Unless you're limited to FPO, you should try finding some bigger paint. We've found that over the past few years some of the lines put out by Marbalizer, Valken and Nelson have been pretty consistent in producing larger size paint. In some cases .681 has been too tight. To date, the .684 has performed extremely well with the above brands. I'd say the average is around .683/.682 depending on humidity. Obviously, if you're stuck with FPO, then the only other option for a smaller bore is inserts.

On a related note, I just saw that Flasc is no longer carrying Phantom barrels on their site. I bought a new Flasc kit that came with a .681 and a .678. I had every intention of selling it as the .678 was way too small and broke paint, and I already had the Lapco .681. Now that they aren't being made anymore I might hold on to it. When I called Flasc earlier this year about doing a Phantom un-ported barrel they said that no one was buying Phantom barrels and they couldn't afford to produce a second run if the first run wasn't selling. Thought for sure that they would have had some left. I guess they saw Phantoms weren't selling, and dropped the entire line.

Not the best news in the world. The pool of full-time, large third-party parts manufacturers just keeps getting smaller. A couple of days ago PhOG (Phantom Owners Group) posted on their Facebook page that they are closing down the PhOG Phorum due to "decreasing traffic and increased spam". It truly sucks to see third-party and fan support dwindle for such a great product/company. MilSim, mag-feds and airsoft are all the rage now, and being trendy means being more profitable with a bigger fan base.

Fortunately, there are some really nice custom products being made by smaller shops. I've seen some true artistry here on MCB, and am thankful we have their support. Palmer's still lists a .680 bore for their Phantom barrels.

As far as Lapco goes, I still haven't heard back from them. Seems like enough of an interest to justify another run, but it might not be enough for them. We'll see.

Unfortunately I have to use field paint. I have been using freak inserts .677,.675 or detent ring .674. They do sell some larger paint but it is garbage, won't shoot straight. It's very frustrating to see Phantoms going out of style. I've shot some nice stuff over the years but everything's always measured against my Phantom. They are my favorite paintball guns. I always take at least one to the field and almost never play with an auto. I like to promote pump play to the younger generation. Show them how to have fun and that that guy with the $1000+ gun is not invincible. But I apologize I have taken this way off topic. I agree that it would be nice to be able to by whatever brand/style barrel I wanted. We are lucky the barrel that comes with it is very well made.

can always contact PPS for a custom ID Phantom brass barrel with wedgits. Used a couple of those in the past with great success.

mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

Too bad the parks you play at handle the small stuff. I don't have too much trouble with the rings, and I have a LAPCO Microshot for the real teeny stuff.
I haven't had to buy a Palmer's or a "Freaked".
I'm an "Anti-SmartParts" so that'll never happen. I'd do a J&J Edge first.

I just shot my Palmer's .680 with wedgits and Evil was very happy in it. The same day with the same paint I used a .675 then a .679 Freak insert on another phantom.

I'm kicken myself for not getting wedgits in my .680 Palmers. At the time I didn't think I would be needing them. LOL!

I have talked to Lapco and I am getting a quote on a run of 20 barrels right now.
.681 Phantom thread Bigshot either Bead or Gloss, they are trying to talk me into Bead since it is easier for the exterior finish.

Possibly custom laser with my store name (Cooper's Cave), or with MCB on it.

Going to contact Moderators regarding a pre-sale and see what the time frame is on my quote before starting one.

I have the money available to cover the order, but may open pre-orders to cover my cost during production time.

Interesting. I guess you need to have a store for Lapco to get back in touch with you. I gave up on them after getting no response to email and phone messages. Thanks for getting in touch with them about this. Obviously, we can't judge the extent of the demand for these barrels by one thread on MCB. Having a store and internet marketing will help move them along. It may lead to more demand.

The bead finish thing is puzzling as all of their other barrels are gloss. While it might be easier for them to produce, it won't match the gloss finish of the Phantom. At last count, it was 13 out of 15 players wanted the gloss, and it would be unfortunate to have folks back out if they can't get the finish they want.

No offense to Cooper's Cave or MCB, but is there any way to opt out of the additional laser-engraved logos?

.681, you have my attention. I could be interested depending on the price. Gloss would be a plus.
