No More Lapco Barrels for the Phantom?

Being a big fan of Lapco barrels I convinced a few of the guys I play with to go in on a order of Phantom Big Shots in .681. Unfortunately, the Lapco website indicated that they were currently out of stock. So, I gave Lapco a call and spoke to Paul. He dug around and found that they had one left. I asked when they expected to be getting more in, and he told me that since the Phantom barrels weren't a big seller that they probably WOULDN'T BE MAKING ANY MORE!!! What?! One of the best barrels for the Phantom that's ever been made, (at a perfect size of .681) and they're discontinuing them! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Boooo! Hisssss!

I then asked how many orders he'd need to run another batch. He said that he'd have to check the sales numbers for the past 2 years and discuss them with the designer to see if it would be worth running any more, but he didn't think it would be.

I know there are at least 3 or 4 guys that I play with that already want one in .681. I'm hoping that if enough Phantom owners on MCB express an interest, hopefully Lapco will do a second run for us. Gotta figure they'll need double digit numbers to make it worth their while.

If you've never run a sized one-piece barrel, then you're missing out on one of the best performance mods available for your Phantom. While Freak inserts have been quite trendy, they just don't offer the same performance of a sized one-piece barrel. For $57 you get both improved accuracy and efficiency just by threading on a new barrel.

Note that I can't imagine Lapco will be offering raw or custom ano barrels here, so I'm not even going to ask them about that. This would be for just the 12" gloss or bead black barrels in .681 (standard Lapco barrel finishes). Any custom ano work would have to be done by the buyer after the barrels are made.

OK, post up. Who here would be interested in buying a Lapco Phantom Big Shot (12", gloss or bead black) in .681 if they were to do a second run?

And yes, I took their last .681 barrel. I used the coupon code "WELTMAN" to get 15% off, which basically paid for shipping. Thanks Weltman!!!

I'd do a Gloss Black barrel in .681 as well. Keep us posted as to if he's willing to make another run of these.
Thanks

I definitely will. Having reputable manufacturers like Lapco maintain their line of Phantom-compatible products is extremely important for every Phantom owner out there.

Showing Lapco that there is a solid demand and market for their Phantom barrels is the only way they'll produce more. I contacted Flasc about producing an un-ported Phantom barrel, and they told me the same thing - that they needed to see the demand to justify the cost of producing a new run of barrels. I'm hoping we can get at least 20 - 25 players who will be interested in buying a new Lapco. I have no idea what their minimum number would be for a run. It could be 50, but 25 seems like a good start and demonstrates .
