Phantom questions

Do you need the adjusting rod to change velocity? When I look in the breech it seems like a flat head screw driver would do the trick.

Will a red main spring increase velocity?

Any yes, the RED mainspring should increase your velocity.

We called these the "blood springs" back in the day.

One last question. When looking at the velocity adjustment screw on the bolt, does turning it clockwise increase or decrease the velocity?

Go to CCI website & Download manual, but to adjust velocity, stick the velocity adjusting tool/Flat head, line it up with the slot of the TPC, and turn clockwise to increase velocity, counterclockwise to decrease.

I prefer the adjusting tools but a screw driver will work. I bought a 18" screw driver from Sears and use that quite a bit. However I did smooth out the sharp edges on the face so I don't accidentally scratch the barrel.

Had that similar set up for use on my first phantom, also wrapped the shaft in a face cloth held on with dual side tape and rubber bands.

Call me paranoid bout barrel scratches, but it worked.

Or just, you know, unscrew the barrel to make adjustments. :P

This is usually what I do. I often just throw a 6" flathead in my pocket. It's a lot less to cary to the chrono. Some days I find it difficult to engage the adjusting tool with the bolt.
