I have a gravity feed on my phantom and when i put the hopper on i can wiggle the breech from side to side it still works but i am just wondering what is going on? thanks in advance

It's normal for there to be just a tad bit of rotation. Make sure front and rear thumbscrews are hand-tight, and all will be fine.

If I "hand tighten" my front screw, it rattles loose after 2 shots. The whole gun falls apart after 30 or so...

I always hand righten it, and just a little extra with an allen key (My thumb screws have allen holes, something not all Phantoms have from my experience. I don't know if they're an after market extra or stock from factory on newer ones. Mine is at least about 2-3 years old, I bought it used 2 years ago.)

Only the older Phantoms don't have allen key recessions in the thumb screws. I always tighten mine up with the key and there's no wiggle.

Also check to see that the o-ring in the base of the thumb screw is not worn, damaged or missing. That o-ring is meant to help keep it from coming loose after tightening.

If it's gone, you will see a round groove milled in the base of the thumb screw. That is for the o-ring to seat. There should be just a little bit of rubber that makes contact with the bottom of the frame and then compresses when tight.

Using an Allen key is fine with a Phantom, because they have a SS threaded insert in the body. Most other pumps just have the threads cut into the aluminum, and after time the steel thumb screws would cause damage to the aluminum threads.

Not a problem with Phantoms. Use caution, but I suspect that you could bend or ruin the Allen key before you could over tighten the thumb screw. There are even some under-cocking pump kits on the market that depend completely on the strength of that front insert.

Yeah just learn the gun and it wont give you a hiccup. There are only those 2 screws holding the whole thing together. I usually had mine hand tightened with no problems.
