| How-to supplement: CCI Phantom Ego Feedneck Mod First off this is not an original mod. The earliest post on this that I’ve seen came from Gen on PBNation (Hopper center mod for Phantom - PbNation). While that post was wonderful it left me wanting a bit more instruction. So, I set about performing the same mod and took a lot of pictures. The mod turned out alright although it appears that Gen smoothed out his breech feed with a finer drum sander. I’ll begin the same way he did. “Patience is a virtue”. First off the tools. Below you will see that I set aside the marker, an ‘06 Ego feedneck, rags, a table vise, a Dremel, gloves and protective glasses. One item not included in the picture is blue painter’s tape. see attachment 100_0594 To begin, remove the center feed breech from the marker, pull the small plastic piece from the base of the breech feed and set it aside. see attachment 100_0597 Then wrap the breech in rags and/or use several layers of painters tape and grip it firmly using the table vise. Using the cut-off wheel (#420) attachment on the Dremel, hack off the portion of the breech feed at the reinforced collar (first time really using a rotary tool so please pardon the dubious workmanship.) see attachment 100_0599 Put on the sanding drum (#407) and work to smooth the top portion of the breech feed. (I’d insert the picture but it came out rather poorly and can be observed by looking at the upper portion of the next picture.) After smoothing down the top portion slowly start grinding down the exterior. This is were the patience comes in. After a few passes with the sander check your progress by seeing how the Ego feedneck fit. This allowed you to check evenness in addition to reducing the likelihood of over-sanding. I noticed that, despite my caution, I ended up grinding the top down a bit more than the bottom. This was fairly easily resolved by making several passes while focusing on the lower half of the breeh feed. The tape saved the breech big-time here. I highly recommend it. Also, you should have several sanding belts ready as I seemed to burn through a couple of them. I choose to leave the outer circumference of the breech feed fairly rough. This was for several reasons. First, I’m not the most experienced at rotary tool work. Second, it was starting to get dark. Third, a rougher surface makes a better grip for the Ego feedneck (or so I tell myself.) And fourth, I wanted a beer. I also attached the Grinding Stone (#953) and worked down the inner and outer edges of the breech feed removing, as best I could, edges that could cut someone or snag a ball. see attachment 100_0603 Finally, grab some scissors and cut down the plastic piece to cover the very bottom of the breech feed. This portion probably isn’t necessary and was, perhaps, the most hacked portion of what I did. I had trouble getting the scissors at a decent angle. Perhaps, if you attempt this, you could suggest a better method. The plastic piece will fit loose since you just ground down the circumference of the breech feed. This is fine since it will be compressed and held in place by the Ego feedneck. After cutting it clean everything up, sit it on the breech feed, attach the Ego feedneck and you’re done! Here are a couple pictures of the completed project. see attachment 100_0606 see attachment 100_0607 If you want to do the Sportshot hopper mods I suggest you check out TF’s tutorial on the Pumpenstein site. I did the Sportshot mod myself for Dremel practice and it wasn’t too bad. I believe TF sells completed versions of his Sportshot mod. I’ve seen some of his work and it is high quality. His mod and a lot of other good information can be found here: Pumpenstein: 2006 NSA National Champions. |

| Thank you very much IDKFA. To "In My Sights", I considered the same thing then realized that I had a free option. I figured I'd give it a shot and if I really screwed it up then I'd just buy the horizontal feed and PMP parts. It's a bit of a personal thing but I definitely preferred the Ego feedneck mod since it is much more firmly attached and I play more open class than stock. |

| the ego mod would probably be cheaper than buying the ptp adapter and a ion feedneck, my teammate bought the ptp, and i was floored by the final price of it
