Phantom problems!? please help.

I never thought this simple machine could stump me. Ive worked on all types of guns such as automags, tippmans, smartparts and many others. But i have hit a roadblock with my phantom. I have been playing with it for 2 years with absolutly no problems, and my phantom before that.. no problems. then all of a sudden at a scenario game this past weekend i had a problem. When i rock the pump handle with no air attached it moves freely, and of course does not engage the hammer, but as soon as i gas it up and cock it the first time its extremely resistive. i can feel it in the pump handle that somthing is wrong in the gun. so i take it apart and slide the bolt in alone, no that moves freely, then the hammer no, that moves freely too but when i put the spring between the hammer and bolt and engage them together and insert it in the gun, i cannot move it with my fingers its that hard to slide. Somthing is seriously wrong here i know it should not be this way. Any insight into my problem would be greatly helpfull thank you.

sounds like an issue with the pump arm binding?

When you cock the hammer and bolt, try twisting the hammer a bit away from the hole for the pump arm. The latch often ends up rubbing against the body if it's cocked before being reassembled, which is normal. Look at your breach, is the crack thing that allows the latch on the hammer to hang down all messed up?

no it has nothing to do with the pump arm because it happens when i insert the bolt+spring+hammer by itself. I noticed today while tinkering with it that when i assemble the bolt+spring+hammer it is not lined up nicely. More like the hammer sags in the back from the spring pressure causing the whole assembly to look kinda like " ( " instead of " | ". i hope that makes some ounce of sense.

Sounds like the anti-kink has worn out...something has broken on your hammer or bolt. Normally hey have a small lip that engages between them, if that has worn out or broken, one or both parts will need to be replaced.

Try checking the tolerances inside of the gun also, one of my gripframes has a burr and would make my phantom do crazy stuff from the hammer not resetting properly since it would get caught on the sides and prevented it from resetting properly. The hammer should move freely back and forth etc.

Back the velocity adjuster out a ways... it may be cranked in too far... this can cause resistance and binding sometimes.
