does polishing do much for a phantom that's already broken in? Like, one that's already been polished just through use?

I've heard it makes things worse because you polish off the coating and it gets things to move rougher and have more drag unless you do an amazing polishing job, the reason i have been told is because there is plating on the internals (i believe it's nickel) and it makes things much more complicated then they need to be if you polish it. But that being said, a broken in phantom works amazing w/o polished internals

As far as better 12ies efficiency what has worked for me is a red (heavy) valve spring) and a yellow (light) main spring. With this combo i am able to get 40 shots off every 12 gram on a VSC phantom, and sometimes get up to 50 usable shots on a 50 foot target that will break.

for any who wanna call shens, here is 43 off a 12ie chrono'd pre video at 285... sorry youtube hates my webcam on my computer i will have a 10 megapixel video with chrono of a 40+ shot 12ie in the future

pm me if you have any questions

I just stick tp the kit mike at cci puts out .It's hot out here and messing with set ups and stuff keeps my b.s. time down at the field!
My ghost does 40 without messing with anything.

How many shots does it usually take for a phantom to break in?

And does it actually need to fire paint <or will dry firing work?

As long as it's aired it will count.

No idea on the break in period, I forget.

Mine was 300-500 to break in, when i got it the gun only got about 30-35 shots per 12ie, but after i shot it a lot and put some new springs in it gets about 40-45 every time, on a hot day and a good 12ie it'll get 50, but i always change in game after my 4th tube to be safe

the pump stroke will also get quite a bit better but after over 1,000 shots. My open class phantom has a sweet pump stroke but it's been shot a ton and really worn in.

not sure if i can embed vids here

Polishing isn't a get outta breaking it in card.My phantom up till 2 years ago was my main gun.Same parts and even 2 valve tubes later still is a great gun.
Take it, sit in front of the tv, cock, repeat, over and over and while your doing this start working your off hand.

Someone told me back in the day when Phantoms were tourney guns, they would sit there and dry fire with white toothpaste in the parts of the guns that needed polish.

I just polished it by hand. My phantom cocks back if I til my gun backwards. I've had it for 4.5 years.

I use a polishing wheel here and there never took any coating off.
