phantom on stabalizr or cp reg question

Hey mcbians. So, im playing xball again and im heading out to the field on monday (teacher work day) . Since it's speedball, im looking for the lightest setup. I want to use my cp reg since it's lighter. Even though the stabalizer is much cooler. I use co2 with my phantom due to one striped screw in the grip frame, therefore it can only hold so much weight. I believe cp reg's can run up to 800psi while the stabalizer can run up to 1000psi. My question is...

Can I use a Cp reg and reach the needed velocity of 290? Would it be "bad" to run co2 through the cp reg? Someone told me that regs would be able to regulate co2 since the co2 is running through the reg so slowly since it's a pump. Thanks!
