86 w/ a 45/45 fits me like a glove. add some houge wraparounds, and you've got yourself one comfy setup

86 is easier on your wrist, more natural feel. act like your holding a shouldered marker, keep your wrist straight, then bend your wrist to act like your holding a 45 frame, then the 86. spin around and clap your hands. I used to use a 45, but got an 86 with my 6.5 and love it a whole lot more. If you have the ability, try them both.

Thin 45 with dye wrap around grips... 86 frame is too short for me.

If you have really long arms the 86 degree frame might feel weird. My friend had an S6 with a 86 frame on it and I had to contort my wrist to use it properly because I am 6'5 with arms to match my height. 45 frame felt better because it was longer from the tank to the grip for me. It's really personal preference. |

This is a funny one for me. If I'm holding a gun and dry firing it, the 45 feels great. But when I'm playing and not thinking of the gun the 86 feels better. You can get nice and tight to the bunkers that way. I have long arms so I had to train myself to keep my elbows down. My point is try both in a game and see what you prefer. My 2 cents. The problem I had with the 86* was that the finger grooves (with the Hogue grips) aren't quite right; uppermost finger groove was too close to the trigger guard. With the panels, the frame was way too narrow. The 45 feels just right, especially on my Phantom, grooves line up perfectly, but I also love the slide on my Sniper.

speaking of 45, has anyone used the thin 45 and the thick? i have rather big hands though i think the thin looks better, does anyone think the thick with some sticky grips or thicker grips is more comfortable? reason is that i have a dm7 and the gripframe is rather thin on that, probably about the same as thin 45 here and this thing is so amazingly comfortable to hold and shoot, i wish i could put a UL frame this shape on every gun on the market.
