Hogue 86 grip mod, sorta

I have a coupla CCM markers with the 86 frames and I love the feel of the Hogue grip panels. One complaint that I, and others have had is the finger grooves sorta limit the amount of space that is available right under the trigger guard. I took one of the grip wraps, and headed to the belt sander to grind down the top finger groove. Much better feel now, more room. If this has been posted before, then, well, here it is again.

Very easy to do, just take your time. And, I may just grind down the second one, just to allow my hand to "go" where it need to when I shoot. But, gonna try this out on the field before I go at the second one.

If you have these wraps, and dont use them because of the space limitations, then you have nothing to loose by doing this little mod. You aint using them any way, so if you screw it up, or you dont like it, then you have lost nothing.

Those grips are intended for the Browning Hi-Power, right?
Have been wanting some wrap arounds for my 86 frame as the damn thing is just way too thin for me...gloves or not...

These are for the CZ75 I believe. They may fit a Hi Power, but I am not sure.

It'd look nicer with a set of exotic wood grip, if you know what I mean. Heck there may even be a market for them....

LOL, I know what you mean. There is a place wood. And, then there is a place for rubber. There are already several people that are doing great wood inserts for these frames. And, to be honest, it just aint as easy as it seems. That top, inside corner is a stone cold biatch to get right. And, if it aint just right, then it shows pretty readily. But, I am toying around with it. I do like the way that this grip feels now. So, we will see.

Good mod imo. Very clean looking solution for a problem many people complain about.

Not to derail your thread, but with all this talk on the wood grips made me think. Has anyone made a wood pump handle for the CCM kits?

I have seen them for the older style(round ribbed) but so far no one has done an EZ or a t-handle

And there is a guy here making custom wood grips for the 86 frames. Kruger pointed me in his direction but I can't remember who it was. Doh!

I'd probably just shave off both trigger grooves and you would still have a lot of nice grip from that front strap. It's kinda funny that no one has done anything so simple as that yet.

And yeah they are CZ grips.
