Sorry deuce, I'm attempting to go for a different setup then most of you guys(which are dedicated snipers) and I have a pistol fetish(I trip over my own stock)

I get bored sitting in one place, no matter how target rich. So I hope to carry a dedicated fsr pistol setup for when there is a stalemate on the field or longballers are staying out of range of my primary with reg paint. Estimate range, shoot, run away/toward enemy screaming, repeat.

So really I'm just in this thread trying to pool some knowledge from you guys and try to think up other setup options. Also I have never shot with any optics in real steel so I have tons of questions.

I'm hoping to end up with:
Lots of eye relief(no stock)
Not too long of an optic(pistol size gun)
Rangefinder on reticle (distance gauging without math or a separate device)
Parralax???

I'm hoping that finding the optimum angle to shim an optic will allot for quick range changes without an adjustable rail, since I doubt I would even be firing for anywhere less than 50 yards or more than 70. If it's adjustable it will need adjusting, and I will fumble it.

I half expect to just have to end up with saint's red dot/front sight combo(not sure how on a pistol yet though)

Also...I'm finding myself going back to this one SPO 4X32 Red/Green/Blue lllumiated Tactical Scope w/ Glow Fiber Sight | eBay

If an angle can be measured and we can figure out something that fits the rangefinder measurement(like a mask or hopper) then it might work for quick and sloppy "counter sniping"
I wonder what ranges the top sights would be useful for with fsr as well.
I'm still leaning towards that sight too. Ever since I spied it I cant seem to find one I like more.

I'm trying to keep my options open but I feel the same.
I did find a good 2x scope with a nice rangefinder at one point, but horrible eye relief. But now I'm wondering what would happen if I added a 2x magnifier with better eye relief behind it?

(I have a hard time with K.I.S.S. apparently.

Dun, I say go with a Pistol Scope. Eye relief is long while the optic itself is not. They can be had for a decent price and at 2x magnification. Get one with a Mil-Dot reticle and 1/4 MOA adjustments.

Any reason why, as far as first strikes go, Mil-dot reticle and 1/4 MOA adjustments? I really know nothing and will need to learn how to use them.

That sounds easy enough! Maybe I'll try shimming the optic's rail mount before I shim the scope rings and end up bending the tube.
Sooo any machinists want to make an add on rail that is 2ish degrees instead of flat?

That is a novel idea. I'm back at the gunship looking for a picatanny 9in rail with 1in spaced holes

If optimum angle of optics is 3* for 60 yards

tan3* x (your rail's length) = optimum shim height(of the rear most part of your rail)

ie 5 inch rail
tan3*x5inch= .26inch raised rail

Then if they are at 40 yards aim lower, 80 yards aim higher...right?
