so will the new tips be compatable with the old backs (and vice versa) or are they way different?

Probably compatible. By the looks of them, the only change is the length of the sizer.

So the OD of the sizers are the only difference. I'm happy with my current set of sizers but I do like the look of these longer ones.

they are great barrels! but I have found that stock barrel is one of the best out there so up to you, guess if you want to use the freak inserts instead of the sizers that would be the way to go!

I use my CCM barrel kit over my DW barrel all the time.
