I am not a fan of the new (3 inch) CCM barrel backs. They have a rough finish inside them. The barrel itself is honed and perfectly smooth, but the barrel backs are only roughly machined. I can feel and see imperfection on the inside of the barrel backs. I asked Mel about this and she assured me this is how the backs are supposed to be. I assumed that a step was missed during production but not honing the inner diameter is how the backs are made.

Cosmetics aside, my CCM barrel breaks more paint that an equivalent sized freak barrel. With a bore matched freak barrel and decent paint I may break 1 ball in 500. With the CCM barrel backs I break 1 ball in 50. That is using mid range (inka silver, valken graffiti) paint.

If I had it to do over again I would save the money on the barrel kit and buy a deadly wind or a colour matched freak barrel. ANS gear has all kinds of colours.

Disruptive makes some really nice 678 one piece barrels
I've been shooting a two piece with one back exclusively for a couple years
Much better than my deadly winds

I got a dust white with polished teal but with just a single sizer

The white and teal really pop together, it will be a sharp looking marker. If you can post pics i am sure we would all like to see it.

I have a new S6.5 with the FBK and have about two cases of paint thru it. I have used two different types of 'Field' grade paint and have had zero issues with the marker. Its accuracy is unsurpassed (granted I have only owned 9 different markers).

Get the barrel kit and call it a day. Not getting the barrel kit to me is like getting an Enzo with no wheels.

Deadly win barrels are great - but frankly - the CCM barrels shoot lazers....

I had a DW barrel along with a Freak barrel. I sold them both and just use my CCM barrel kit.

Quick question:

Does a AA barrel provide a better sound signature (quieter) than a CCM barrel?
