Maintenance on a S6

I bought a used S6 about a year ago and play with it once or twice a month. Before I get into my question, have to say I love love love my CCM. Hands down the best paintball gun I have ever owned or used. The dust silver/polished red get so many compliments it is awesome.

Ok, now that that is out of the way. Other than normal cleaning it after I play each time, I have not done any maintenance at all on it. Do I need to? Are there any o-rings that I need to look at? If I need to get a valve tool to work on the guts of it I can.

I usually add a little paintball oil into the ASA before I screw on my HPA tank. But that is it. The only problem I have had is my air fitting are starting to leak a little ever now and then. Which is a good reason to replace them with the new CCM style ones...

Thanks for any information.

Send me your e-mail - and I will send you the manual. The manual page is being redone right now.

Lays it all out.

Or watch the video series in the stickies above.

Dust silver? Any of the lighter finishes bug me, they tend to appear "dirtier" than their counterparts more often.

There really isn't a need for regular "Above and beyond" maintenance unless you do something crazy like "I shot three cases of paint, threw it into a ravine, and used it as a hammer!"
If there isn't anything wrong and you do basic care, you should be fine.

The OCD freaks of the forum, myself included, tend to be a bit more meticulous. I break my markers down every few weeks, check the internals for wear, give a good cleaning, and light oiling.

The items to look out are the following.
-leaking down the barrel is usually the oring by the tophat with the stem
-reg creep is the reg running dry or being wonky
-farting is usually the operating pressure being off

As for your fittings, if they have some miles on them, just swap them off. CCM fittings are very aesthetic, but some people tend to find them to be a hassle. I haven't had any issues with the CCM fittings, but some people have sworn them off because of headaches.

I do recommend buying a valve tool, it is something that any sheridan based owner should own.

Heh.....heh heh......heh heh heh....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Alex.

I've been told to just run two itty bitty drops of oil through the ASA at the start of each month. I do that and clean my bore after every day of play and just keep it clean in general. Haven't had a problem yet.

Thanks for the videos TF, those helped a lot. I ordered some new air fittings (mainly because of how they looked ) and value tool. When it gets here I will disassemble my S6 completely and clean it really well. Also going to order an O-ring kit from Oringmonkey.

I guess I was just spoiled because I used an open stock class phantom for years. I could completely strip/clean it between games.

Thanks for all the great info, once I get my new fitting on, I will post a few pictures.

I hate you.

When I was shooting CCMs, I'd usually just clean out the top tube, give the outside a quick rub down, and shoot 2 drops of oil through the ASA after every 2nd time of use. Once a season I would disassemble and see if anything needed replacing.

That is about what I have been doing, just figured there may be something I was missing.

Cant wait to get my new air fittings, been meaning to order them for awhile. I have dropped quite a few hints about a Deadlywinds barrel to my wife for Christmas.
