Sorry for the crappy picture

Because I love the look an have mad respect for Kanaka Maoli people - I had a Makau (fish hook pendant) made. It is not expensive but from Kihei, Maui and is at least a decent representation made by the people of the island. I can't wait until the bone takes on that weathered yellow look, but I know it takes time for the oils of my skin and my spirit to become part of the Makau. I hope to pass it on to my kids.

I hope the Polynesian people will excuse this haole while I wear it - and I want to send my love to the people of the islands. I have never met a poor example of your people.

Looks good buddy. I am not Hawaiian (Kanaka Maoli) but as a local native I am not offended if a "Haole" wears it, as long as they respect the culture it originated from. Now you gotta come on over and play. The weather is always great.

be careful, the one I got in Maui took a shot and broke in half...bloodied me...I have a silver one now

I would LOVE to. I have some other friends there too. I would love to hang about for a while.

I like that it represents a fish hook. I love fishing. Cool looking pendant for sure. I never liked wearing necklaces but that one i would probably make an exception for.

I really like that! I found a similar one made from buffalo horn that looks really nice too. I need to get my rear out to Hawaii one of these days, I can't think of a better place to go play.
