SR-1Sniper Ballistics Discussion

First Strike vs RP Premium Paintballs. I am confused about something maybe some of you could clear up. Tonight I decided to weigh both rounds. I did this primarily to determine the chrono characteristics and why the difference in fps with a marker at the same setting.

I've heard arguments that the weight is the reason but I don't buy it. Why you may ask......

Thanks to Kansas I've been contemplating these. I recall dismissing them before I received my SR-1 because i recall they sucked real bad back in the day, but those came glued on the ball from the factory. That could have been the fatal flaw in itself. Maybe the paint settled causing them to veer off target. Damn it I just talked myself into ordering these.

Just a thought.....

Second testing is not needed, only two of these 21 inch ones were ever made and both are mine. And at $400 each no more will be made. Sorry

$aint :bowdown that barrel combo is cool.......

Bill, based on this conversation over in the FSR forum I think I may have had a moment of enlightenment, WDYT?

Better yet a rifled First Strike round SR-1 shell casing. The key might be to make it a bit tighter with grooved twist to match that of a FSR. This could in all practicality make the SR-1 the most advanced FSR platform on the market out of the box.

I take it you like the idea? Added to the fictitious list just in case.

I don't know how they rifle the barrels. If I could get a raw tube rifled I could make some.

Other than that I'll have to give it some thought.

I have a T9.1 rifled barrel from LAPCO specifically made for first strikes (though I am not sure the twist matches the pitch of the fins on the FS). The grooves do not, but then the body of the FS has a slightly larger OD than the fins and is what engages the grooves.
The grooves are shallow and squared off. It does give the FS a little start on rotation to avoid the wobble that they get from a smooth bore barrel while they start their rotation.

Tell ya what Bill, I'll send you a hammer head barrel to turn down into a shell or two. :clapping:

DSA you need to weigh the rounds in 'grains'...like real bullets...
that food scale is not accurate enough.

I dont think the casing will be long enough to spin them..enough..
if it did the rest of the barrel would have to be overbored to let them keep spinning.

I agree my scale isn't set up for that but we are talking paintballs whose full is different from ball to ball so I don't think we need to get down to the grain. As for the shell and barrel, we won't know till we try. I willing to fork over a barrel to be turned down into a shell if there is a possibility of this improving the FSR trajectory.
