J2L AT Cam question

What am I doing wrong?

Alright, so I have had this J2L now for a couple of weeks and I can't seem to get the AT to work properly.

The bolt is closing perfectly a little less than an 1/8 of an inch. The cam and AT portion are struggling. The cam/lever falls out.

The arm is not the screw in type for the cam. I have adjusted the screw to raise the trigger to hold the cam in. When I do, the pump action feels like I am rolling over a bump and on the return stroke the action slams forward. If I loosen the screw the cam falls out. What can I do to fix the problem without buying a new pump arm and cam/lever.

I will eventually buy a new arm and cam/lever with the screw if that's the fix but I am playing tomorrow and need to have it hold for the day.

There are pins in the top of the frame that holds the trigger, sear and AT in place.

sounds like you lost a pin. The pin is 1/16" diameter. If you turn your frame upside down all of the pins will fall out. If you loose them you really will be out of business.

Leave the AT out you can still play.

I would suggest you tape the holes up before installing your frame. That way your pins won't fall out when you take the marker apart.

Bill thank you for your help. I forgot about those pins. I recently traded my S6.5 for this J2L I haven't take the frame off. Played the day without my pump. Sad day, but I just took it apart and those two pins are not there. I hope I can order them from Mel on Monday for next Saturday's play.

Thank you for the video. TF is such a genius! Well on his way to paintball godhood.

I must of lost those pins. I guess the S6.5 I traded didn't have the AT pin either so it must be fault. My apologies for sounding if I was blaming the trade.

eBay was a great help. Thank you CCM for shipping quickly. I played the second half of the day with my J2L and it was great. The first half was with my CCI.

Thanks for everyone's help.

If you are inclined - you can find piano wire of the same diameter and simply cut it to length with a Dremel - be sure to keep it cool.

While on this topic, my marker (J2 pump) had the ball spring combo. Can I switch to a pin to hold it in? it seems more secure that way. The ball/spring does nothing in my pump.

I've used guitar strings to hold my AT cam in a pinch.
Years of playing guitar usually means that I have a few old sets sitting around the house.
