Somebody could have swapped out the internals. If that's the case I bet they swapped them into something else, swapping out CCM parts is generally never an Upgrade.

Does the pump stroke feel gritty or like its grinding anywhere? Or does it feel sticky? If it just feels stiff but smooth I would try to pop off the handle and see what it has inside for a return spring. I run my return springs inside my handles so they don't mark the anno. Some put them on the lower guide rod but I think they are ugly there and they will rub off your anno, so that to me is a bad idea. A clean CCM with no return spring is about as smooth as it gets. Good luck with figuring it out, if you call CCM direct they will help you get it sorted out, they have the best customer service you could ask for.

+1 on sending the marker to CCM for routine maintenance.

It's the best few bucks you can spend on your marker. My experience has been that the time and materials they lavish on this sort of thorough inspection and tune up great exceed whatever they charge you...

The S6 does not need any upgrades. The pump stroke is naturally buttery smooth. I opted to get an EZ grip handle as they are just so damn comfy. You may want to look into one but they are only compatible eith 'B' serial numbered markers.

If the bolt is gnarled up take very very very high grit sandpaper and slightly buff the bolt out. Take a polishing wheel to the guide rods.

Also could do what No clue does and backs the IVG all the way out and just uses the reg to adjust pressure.
