Polished silver finish

So I was wondering what it would take to give my reg the same polished silver finish as my ccm trigger frame. Does anyone know how to reproduce the same finish? It's it anodized after polishing? Is there some kind of coating on it?

depends, but count on a lot of elbow grease for starters. if there are any scratches, they will need to be sanded out. once the finish is smooth, polishing with various compounds should do the trick. hopefully you have something powered (dremel, bend grinder with a buffer wheel, etc).

also, if the reg body is aluminum, it would likely need to be clear-coated to prevent it from oxidizing. use many light coats, and spray at room temperature.

Thanks guys. I was thinking of doing this to a newer version of a wgp bm reg. I do have a dremel with all the sanding/polishing bits... no fairies though.

Hey Frank,
We use a buffing compound (easily found at most hardware or automotive places. Bill just told me you can find it at truck stops too.) and a polishing wheel. You don’t need anything too heavy duty, the $35 version from Harbor Feight will do the job. Make sure if the part was previously ano’d it has been stripped. Then use the compound and wheel to brighten and buff the part, then all you need is a new coat of Clear ano.

PM me if you have any questions. Thank you and good luck with your project.
