86* Frame Grips Question

Quick question, are the 86* panel grips from the current style frame and the old hinge frame compatible? Do they have the same screw placement and shape and such?

I ask because I made a set of wood grips for the current frame style and someone wanting to buy them was wondering if they would work on the old style hinge frame on mechs.

For the most part yes but small changes have been made to the panel pocket over the years but for the most part all should fit the same.

The Phantom 86 panels are different. I don't know why.

So you mean the phantom frame I picked up requires me to buy special 86 panels? Glad I found out before I tried to buy some.

I thought they were based off the CZ-75 grip frame?

If so wouldn't that mean anything that was made to fit a CZ-75 would fit the 86* frame?

The 86 rubber wrap around fits. For some reason there is about a .005 difference in the corner radius on the Phantom frames so the standard full size 86 plastic panels don't always fit perfect on the phantom frames. But we made panels to fit the Phantom 86. Every Phantom frame was shipped out with our fitting panels or store bought rubber grips.
I don't know if all CZ panels fit our guns. I never tried any other than the rubber wrap around.

This is what it looks like. you can see a small gap with our standard panels. It's been like that for a long time. so we just made panel that fit the phantom frame
