New CCM internals; can't achieve 300 FPS

Okay, now that we have that out of the way...

Hey guys/gals, I have a question that is bothering my brother and I about his new set of internals.

He is using a brand new planet eclipse regulator, a pure energy 48/4500, quality paint matched to the barrel, and a 05 superstock body.

When he initially setup the gun, the stock internals provided 300 fps easily. Soon after using my S5, he bought and installed CCM internals. He then found the gun was much lighter in pumpstroke, but unable to perform at 300 fps. He contacted me and told me of the situation.

I was in disbelief, because I figured the CCM internals should be calibrated to run at the same fps, even though the springs are lighter.

The problem is, no matter how hard we try, the gun will not shoot anywhere near 300 fps with the IVG screwed fully inward, set at any reg setting.

I am now convinced, and assuming that the valve spring is overbearing the IVG spring's strength. We are absolutely certain that the internals are installed correctly, as far as valve openings being correctly placed, etc.

My brother is already looking into buying a Maddman spring kit, but I would never handle the problem this way. I am looking to CCM to help us with the situation!!!

Please help us CCM, or anyone!

Take the Ivg out to flush then go 2 turns in. Turn the reg off and then slowly go up in pressure. There is a fine line between 250 fps and then too much reg pressure that prevents the valve from fully opening. Once you get to 200 fps, go SLOWLY up on the reg pressure.

That and the obvious ones:
bolt right side up
valve right side up

Done, done and done. We read/followed the CCM manuals during the setup process. Still no luck though

You know what this might be? I have found that the bottom tube in the WGP can cause rub on the CCM hammer. Take the hammer out and see if there is marring on the hammer.

I had an 05 body that flatly would not accept a CCM hammer without modification. I think the WGP bodies are made cheaply these days and may be out of spec at times. In particular, the body that I had tapered somewhat toward the valve. The hammer would move fine for a time but then rub on the body and cause the marker to only open the valve so much, no matter what the spring pressure.

Ahh, now that is one thing I didn't fully experiment. I'll get him to put the old 05 hammer back in the body while checking the CCM hammer for marring, and see what it will do!
