I was in Ely last month.. they didn't seem to interested in having this city boy back.

Maybe it was the "How u doin" that turned them off.

Yeah, "How you doin" is absolutely something that would give me pause before talking to someone.

They don't like my "howdy" either. Haven't quite shaken that Texas habit.

I've lived in these parts for most of my life now, and I still can't let go of the Texas in me.

It is way too cold for one, and the passive aggressive "Minnesota nice" isn't as nice as it sounds.

"Yah Shore, ya betcha" is pretty funny to hear though, I still get a kick out of it.

Unfortunately, everyone from Texas tells me I don't sound as Mexican as I used to..

I've lost some of my accent when speaking spanish, used to be, you wouldn't know I wasn't Mexican if you were blind folded.

Used to really throw people for a loop in Juarez when I'd just start talking to them.

Now, I guess my accent isn't what it used to be so I don't get as much of the bug-eyed responses.

Regional idiomes are neat sometimes!

and i grew up in GA, and i'll take MN cold over GA heat and humidity any day.
