Tank in Stock?

I am hopefully about to get my project parts back from Brad soon. One thing I am going to need to do is to cut/drill the stock to mount the tank inside the butt of the stock. any body have any tips/ideas on how to do this properly so I do not mess it up and have to carve out another stock?

I am going to be using a 30 gram tank I got from Rap4, and running the gas line through the stock.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't carters KL have a little 3.5 in the stock?

She told me we couldn't afford beer anymore and that I'd have to quit drinking. Then I caught her spending $65 on makeup. I asked how come I had to give up stuff and she didn't. She said she needed the makeup to look pretty for me. I told her that was what the beer was for. I don't think she's coming back...

Yes it does, as well as a few other folks' guns. Very nice mod IMO.

I think that a 30g tank would be much less problematic that a 3.5oz. You'll have to check out the OD and slowly drill accordingly.

A 2" hole saw attached to a large drillpress/mill and a nice coping saw is whats required.

and Scarecrow have done them for certain

Getting the axial alignment right and properly fitting in an asa is the bulk of the challange, then overall depth of placement.
A custom stock with more meat will actually make this process easier.

I've have done two 3.5oz stocks and so has the Brassballer. Quite difficult to do the first one but I have learned more after the second. Like many things it's easy take shortcuts that make it look cheap.

A 2 inch hole saw is the tool of choice for a 3.5 oz, you would have to measure the OD of your tank if you are using a 30 gram. I also used a 1 inch hole saw to clear the valve and a drill bit extender with a round ended reamer to clean up and shape the hole. The only power tool I used to make mine was a drill motor so it is possible for a weekend warrior to finish this project but like any other, take your time. There is no deadline worth trying to meet to risk cracking the wood or drilling through the side. Also keep in mind that 1/2 a degree off will really show when the tank/valve/asa is close to a foot long.
