Talon work.

I have decided to rework a talons internals. One observation I have made about the talons design is it is incredibly similar to phantoms on the inside (except poor quality, heavier internals and no polishing or efforts to make it modular.) Anyways, I've desided to compare internals and model my talons internals after my phantoms. first things I have decided to do, is "dremel mill" the un-needed extra metal of the hammer, which will increase effeciency due to the rebounding effect a heavier hammer has. (someone let me know what the right name for this is.) I already started work on the powertube. I used a dremel coning bit in my drill press to slightly enlarge the holes which the air flows into the inside of the valve. I also began to drill the inside of the powertube so it will be wider. Drilling out the inside of the powertube may do little in the way of air flow, but it will help reduce its weight, and to me, lighter weight internals is always a good thing. I also notice a chunk of the back of the hammer appears to do nothing, I intend to grind the back of the hammer down making it a tiny bit shorter and lighter. After all these mods are done to the internals, i will probably polish em...

Be carefull enlarging the ports and such on the powertube. Even stock powertubes are prone to breakage. Typically if you enlarge the ports and inner diameter to much the stress from the non-antikink internals will snap the powertube at the cup seal.

Also their is a balance you should be striving for when you remove parts of the hammer. You should be more concerned about your spring ratio rather than the weight of the hammer. A lighter hammer does'nt necessarily equate to less hammer bounce. Again you will want to balance your springing in attmepts to lower the dwell as much as possible.
