This has a "next automag" sort of feel.

It works, but I haven't done any other physical work on it since I milled the body. Most of the time I have with actual tools has been dedicated to getting a few projects with/for other people wrapped up.

I do have a new body design I'm going to do once I figure out the 4th axis aspect of HSM Works. I have a few frames that I'm going to try as well. Have a program written to make some elliptical slots for o-ring type detents, but haven't successfully run it yet (broke the endmill the first time, slowed it down and gave it shallower passes but have not tried again).

If you get 4th axis on HSM Works figured out, *PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE* explain it to me. I am suffering from "too stupid to figure it out"

Will do - there is crap available for help with it regarding 4th axis work.

What little I have been able to find out (both through testing and internet research) - 3D adaptive clearing will not work with 4th axis as of the current version - telling it to use the 4th axis substitution in the tool orientation settings does strange things and does not behave like normal 4th axis work.

What my next plan of attack is to use the adaptive clearing from the top work plane, rotate 90 degrees with the 4th axis, use adaptive from the sides, and repeat until it is roughed from 4 separate working planes. Then use the swarf or contour features in the multi-axis milling portion.

Good, so it isn't just me.

If you figure out how to convince the swarf/multi axis function that your machine only has 4 axes... and that the 4th axis is *not* a U, V or W (Head tilit axis), please tell me how you did it. When I go to use swarf, I get results that look great on their backplot, but the machine does *NOTHING* like the intended path.

Ready for anodizing on the body. Going to make a project specific frame once I finish modifying my mill for extra y-axis travel. Planning on a black and green acid wash right now, always been a favorite of mine.

Well, if you're going to bring something back from the dead......you need a heck of a post like that.

Very impressive. Props.
