Ball end mill size

I'm looking for some help here. What is the ball end mill size that I need for the groove that goes down the center of the pump handle? As near as I can figure it's about 3/4. Am I close? Shouldn't the depth be about 3/16? Just wondering, cause my WIFE has allowed me to buy a new mill. Nothing fancy, just something simple.
Later,
Blackrain

Are you talking about a sniper pump handle? If you are its a 1 inch radius end mill, i believe.

If you want to hug it under the barrel, go for the same size as the barrel. Cut, test, recut. Otherwise, measure it and use a 1-inch mill for a general fit.

Before you decide to go with a specific mill you may want to stop and ask yourself a few serious questions about mill size.

I just wrote up a rather long guide on my own feelings from my background and experience on small mills for paintball sized projects.

Yes it's on THAT site. But hopefully the info will aid you.

For measuring that groove what you need is to use washers, coins or anything else you can find to fit and check for gaps. When you get two that are really close with one being too big and the other two small you can measure the two and probably guess at the correct diameter of the ball mill just because you know that they only come in certain sizes.

Take my advice: Wear a helmet, and have your retreat planned in advance!

Retreat plan is Va. Till June. Sunshine and beach. I'm hoping to get a good Tan. I'm not looking very Mexican These days. I am way to white from this terrible Western Washington Weather.

....And then she came through the door from being out shopping for shoes and after blackrain lost the look of a deer in the headlights he sidled up and said something like "Hi Honey! I've cleaned the kitchen like I promised!..... Honey? I've been thinking....that, you know.... if it's all right with you... I was thinking I'd like to buy a small little milling machine.....".

OK judges time to cast your votes! And you the studio audience, which scenario sounds more like the real story? Press your RED button for blackrain's story or your GREEN button for Railgun's version....
