Has anyone ever...

Made an Sniper (or pump 'cocker for that matter) bolt that locked into place when the bolt was full forward; like on my PMI-1? I feel like I'm losing efficiency due to the fact that my pump spring can't keep the breech sealed when I fire. Any other solutions or is it just not a big deal?

Well, try chronoing a few times holding the pump forward, and then a few not holding the pump. If it makes a difference, you'll see it in the fps.

For what you will save... not really worth the trouble.

IMHO, that is.

Why don't you hold onto the pump handle when you shoot ?

I'm about 50/50 holding the pump and not. I'll chrono my gun with both techniques this weekend and post the results.

I prefer how my Snipers shoot when I let the pump go. It feels smoother and quieter.

I havent ever noticed a real significant change. Maybe 4-5 fps.

As a matter of fact there was a discussion a while back about how PPS pumps actually gain velocity when the bolt slids open a tad.

Really now, that sounds interesting. Anyone have a link to that discussion?

put a spare bolt spring on the pump rod this will force it closed and really dosen't add anything to the stroke pressure.

I think the discussion that Jake is referring to took place on the old pink and grey MCB.
