It works, but I haven't been able to get it to seal consistently, and they are very sensitive to any grit or other debris from the air system.

what's the o-ring on the other end for?

and weren't you going to put the spring between the pt and valve cover? what happened to that?

The o-ring on the hat just keeps it from wiggling around in the valve body.

The cupseal shaped to take a spring was by request so people could test the valve using standard Nelson springs. I can still machine a recess in the valve nut to give people the option.

I tested the first Gen valve fairly extensively.

I found that the buna oring works best as the seal and did not blow out. the Teflon seal was very finicky and I assume delrin would fare no better.

I also found that the external spring was more trouble than it was worth, especially when it came to testing different spring weights. I found basically no difference in efficiency when I went back to a standard spring setup, but again that could be because of springing. I also found that it magnified tolerance differences between powertubes since the valve retainer doesn't guide as much as on a stock valve.

You need to test newmaticarsenal's kit with the huge internal dimensions.

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

Keep in mind that y0da's valve and newmatic's valves are pretty different in terms of their goals, kind of like comparing an AKA valve to a Palmers HP LT valve.

Y0da's valve is meant to be a drop-in compatible upgrade for high pressure unregged guns out of the box.

Newmatic's valve is aiming for dropping the effective pressure of the gun, in the same way that upgraded valves and bolts changed Cockers from high pressure to low pressure platforms.

In the case of high pressure operation and y0da's design, we already have a ton of flow to play with. Now we have to figure out how to stop the valve from staying open longer than it has to.

With newmatic's design, we want to pump up the flow and increase the sealing face sizes so that it can be effective at lower pressures.

All good theories....

Has anyone tried testing them out? Got any data?

Yes they have been tested and the data has been posted here in this mega thread some time ago.

My valve system in my phantom could not get higher than 265 because the volume behind the valve was not big enough. But I was able to push 50+ shots above 230FPS using a 12 gram and a palmer reg to drop the press to under 300psi. Mathematically my system would allow a 300% increase in flow and eliminates the bottle necking of gas at the PT cup seal. I posted the exact numbers w/ FPS for every shot here somewhere. Splatt got better results w/ his gargoyle.

I also know Yoda has tested his design and had released an earlier design to several people.

Fluted hammers have been mentioned and made with promising results. Valves were made using the madman Rocket valve design to help smooth out the gas flow. I've seen lots of numbers in this thread. All this is proof that the nelson valve system can be seriously improved far beyond just polishing the internals under a buffing wheel.

What design is best? There are fare too many variables.
