Now I understand! Thank you!

The effect would be even better if you used something similar to an automag on/off where you shut off the pressure inlet to the valve when you are pulling the trigger. The valve pressure would drop even more.

there's also one main benefit we're trying to retain besides performance gains, and that is the ability to produce a kit that can be bought/sold as a drop in unit.
That's why it's taking so long to develop.
You ideas are great, but would be better suited to a completely new design build.

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

can't wait for the kit to become available. It may still take years to develop... and a couple of dozen pages in this thread

So I tested the slam valve on an unregged dropout changer. Very impressive valve, IMO. The valve body I use with my regged setup is too shallow to accept the slam valve base, so I'm going to have to figure something out with it. I've been planning on completely drilling it out anyways.

I actually had to shim the slam valve base in the dropout changer with one of the old valve springs y0da sent me. I think there is a ton of variation over the years when it comes to valve depth.

The first thing I noticed is that the valve has a very short travel, probably about half of what you'd see a normal Nelson valve open to. Despite that, I had no problem getting to full velocity using a standard silver CCI mainspring and Lapco fluted hammer.

I got 34 above 250, with an average of 299 FPS. I could probably do more with a slightly lower velocity, I was running in the 280s before. I think this is a pretty good start.

Russ, take into consideration that with the Retro7 modded with the ASP fluted hammer and a cut to fit p6 jet and stock springs, I got over 40 field legal shots.
Could have been at least 10 more shots had I switched out for a lighter valve spring.
So with that said, maybe try it on the Retro perhaps?

Pretty cool results.

Loving that it's holding it's starting FPS, with good consistency so long into the 12ie.

The problem is the NPT plugs on either side of the Retro valve, they protrude into the chamber. I could probably mod them for clearance, but let's add that to the list of things to do.

let's work on testing that out man, I wanna see what we can do with it compared to the stock config. a quick solution would be to use 3/4 taper plugs (dry seals) instead of 7/8 taper plugs (flush seals), they would stick out of the valve body on the outside but no problem for inside clearance. Also, you can simply use a different "hat" in a retro, it doesn't need that oring, since the air doesn't come in from the back.
