I am enjoying the real science talk in this thread. I know very little on fluid dynamics and thermo dynamics in comparison so I will hold my tongue and watch. Keep it coming gents.

heh, not sure how to take that or reply to that... you know, after making a hundred grand worth of markers in production cost, selling at least that much and shipping most of it... and delivering superior results in said nelson-based product... I guess I'll just leave it at that and carry on

Are there any charts on the R7 efficiency? I only shot my old one in the back yard, but I was pulling upper 30's in usable shots, and sadly I did not keep any records.

the efficiency tests i saw were great as far as standard efficiency. in the mid 40s of 'usable' shots. (velocity for usable is arguable). i also saw a couple in the 50s but that was with a starting velocity of 240, so thats also not a valid test.

we are talking 60 shots of good hard velocity shots. 280 dropping to 240 (ish). if you have the tricks to make this happen lets do it. i will make up a sample of your provided drawing and see if that is indeed the ticket. lurkers was just quicker to get going on.

Quickest way to put that design I posted to the test would be to fit it to stock powertube and go from there. That's what I'm planning to do, for direct comparison to all stock cci valvetrain.

Btw, most of the published results we did with the Retros were with stock length barrel... 5.25 inches. Results in the 50-60 shot range were achieved with zero barrels (12 inch step bore with porting). The gas transfer system with magic nipple is the real key to those results, I've made no attempt to install a similar system on a phantom but I don't see why it shouldn't be possible.

Is the valve design you posted what you call "magic nipple" or is it some other top secret device hidden in the gun?

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

I had to quote it to see the vid so I thought I'd repost it to make it easier for others.

Efficiency from a 12g has never been reliable for me. I've gotten from 25-50+ shot from a Nelspot with the same set up.
Biggest challenge is paint and weather conditions in an otherwise controlled environment.

another issue i would like to fully address is wasted gas. there are several places gas seems to escape in the system when firing. underboring magnifys this issue. i am adding seals wherever i can without adding cyclic friction.
