THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

What's the physical connection between the two (changer and reg)?

I'm going to have a minicocker ASA between them. It should be a fairly compact setup, I'm just hoping that it's comfortable where the Stabilizer puts the cartridge. It also has a Lapco non-fluted hammer and an open face bolt. I've also got a fluted lightweight hammer that I can swap in to test.

I've had some good luck going from the non fluted to the fluted hammers. That was small compared to the Open faced bolt though.

Someone here posted a mathematical equation that solves a typical shot count off of a 12g co2 powerlet... But I can't remember who that was.
I believe if memory serves me right, that magic number was 72?
Any of you remember reading that?

By magic number do you mean the max amount of shots possible in a perfect system with no loss/wasted gas/ friction against moving the valve.

doesnt the specs of the system influence that as well

volume of gas allowed into the chamber (or into the system per say since gas in the line makes VSC less efficient than back bottle)

not sure there exists an exact measure - just a range lol

good luck in finding it!

Jack, that theoretical number was "62." In my opinion there are too many variables to calculate that number effectively, I think it was more of a guess. Was it yoda who said he'd eat his hat if we broke 65? In any case, I think a reliable 50 @ 280-290 fps with a flat velocity curve is a good goal to shoot for at this point. That isn't based on calculations, but my experience with LP Snipers and unregged high efficiency Nelspot setups. The Sniper came close (~40 @ flat 300 with stock parts) and the Nelspot reached 50+, but had dropped to 250 fps at the end, and with obvious liquid loss at the beginning.

I really like this idea, but I think there are more practical ways for us mooks to fudge with our dremels and hand tools. I still think that proper expansion and utilization of phase change energy is a huge factor in 12 gram efficiency, and it's one of the reasons I'm excited about going to LP, since the pressure differential will only help expand the co2 to its fullest potential.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure we could attempt to increase surface area as seen above by sinking threaded rods through the valve body, or a pre-valve expansion chamber leading from the reg. Think "Hellraiser."

Unfortunately, steel is 4x less conducive to heat than aluminum according to this chart, but maybe copper rods would work? They are about 1.5x more conducive than aluminum. My only concern would be structural integrity of the vessel.

On another note, who has the newmaticarsenal internals at this point? I still think those have great potential for LP tuning. I could see them being very popular as an open class Phantom upgrade, not just a stock class one, if the cocking issue can be worked out. (I figure a stiffer valve spring or slightly higher input pressure should be used)
