Smile My custom Rainmaker Project

Well after two and half years of on & off tinkering, my Rainmaker is almost, complete, the custom parts need to anodized black and the circuit board need installing but otherwise it's done.

I set out on this project to build a Rainmaker that was true to the character of the original maker, but removed an many of the the factory points of failure as possible and improve performance at the same time. So just about everything area of the maker has bad some sort of work done to it.

The key mod is the custom Reg block & fake factory LPR made by my friend Graeme, This allow 2/3s of a rock reg to be mounted in the stock location of the factory HP Reg. The Rock Reg started out as Intimidator model that is still mostly intake.

Anyway I give you my un-officially Palmerized Rainmaker, you will never see another, unless there is some else out there as equal crazy as me.

Specs:

Bad mojo werks aluminum adjustable trigger
Stainless Steel Screw Set
Mad Marty's Mods 1-5 on new factory parts.
High flow LP Hose kit.
Palmer Pursuit 12" vented Autococker Barrel
Palmer Pursuit Female stabilizer.
Palmer Pursuit timmy rock reg.
Palmer Pursuit Flat rings
Palmer pursuit Mini Gauge
Hardwarz Tapered Valve Spring
Check It Uni-Mount CAGE
98 Semi board, with 6 volt mod.
Microswitch trigger mod.
Custom Reg block & fake factory LPR.

= One heavy SOB

All it needs is a 114/4500 nitro tank, preferrably with one of the long *** screw-in tank regs.

Why the fake LPR bit? Just wanted to keep the original look of the Rainmaker? You have the female Stab, so that is an expense aesthetic piece.

Basically it's there to make it look stock, I put the Rock LP Reg. in the place of the factory HP Reg. for this reason. While I could have just had the bottom of the custom Reg. block tapped to accept a 10-32 elbow fitting, I wanted to keep the stock look as much as possible, so much so that the Reg. block will actually accept the factory LP Reg.. At one stage I had planned to just gut the stock LPR and use it as elbow, but the high flow LP hose need extra space to clear the rear frame screw and still be routed internally, so the round section of the fake LPR is actually just a hollow shroud that hides the hose and air fitting, that screw in to the square section of the Fake Reg., giving just the little extra space the large LP hose needed to fit.

As for cost, lets just say it's good to have a friend that's a prototype engineer, with a machine shop in his garage setup to make everything you can think of.

While it's heavy as hell, it's not as nose heavy as you might expect, in fact it's relatively balance strangely enough, I think the foregrip cover makes the front look bulkier and heavier that it is. I think a lot custom Rainmakers tend to end up front heavy, with the addition of vertically mounted HP Regs, after market LP Reg. and solenoid mounts all up front, and at the same time the weight of factory high and low pressure Regs is often removed from the rear, leaving them out of balance front to back.

I think it will balance ok with a full 12oz tank, and if not I've got an odd ball 15oz tank that will do the trick.

Thanks for the clarification.

So, the fake LPR isn't even functioning as a volumizer?

I would have tried to actually use a microrock on the rear to replace the stock LPR, but you would lose the stock look.

No, it's just overly complex elbow fitting, the high flow LP hose running from the back to the front of the marker acts as a volumizer of sorts, it's internal diameter is so large that you can run a of piece normal sized LP hose down the middle of it with room to spare.

The Reg. block also holds more regulated HP air that the stock Reg. Block did, but there is room to increase this more, if needed in the future.

The Micro Rock is so much bigger than the stock LP reg. , and I was replacing the stock HP reg. anyway, so it seam only logical to me to put the Micro Rock where the stock HP Reg had been.

The Rainmaker is an ugly marker, but it's good kind of ugly, that makes people go "what the hell is that!", and I wanted to keep that look.

When they were being produced, people use to always think they were a cocker knockoff.

It does look similar, but the Nelson type operation isn't even close.
