While I don't have an issue with the efficacy of Brasso - it works fine on my brass barrels - it's wasteful and expensive.

For the same price, as others have mentioned, Flitz works wonders, is a thick paste instead of a watery liquid like Brasso and doesn't have all the nasty petroleum distillates of Brasso. I tend to use only a small glob of Flitz where Brasso, being runny, lends itself to over use and spillage.

Another "Flitz-type" product to look at is called "Met-All" which is available in large tubs, making it very economical. They all do exactly the same job.

i'm glad to see others say that Brasso sucks. i totally agree.

i haven't tried the Flitz polish, but i've used Nevr-Dul and that stuff works great.

I've used both Nevr-dull and Brasso....To me they seem to be about the same...Well, 'cept that Nevr-dull has the applicator built in.

It sounds silly, but you might try toothpaste (the old fashioned Crest works pretty good) It's loaded with silica and your brass will be minty fresh... It's also much cheaper than any of the buffing compounds....Just have to rinse it out afterwards....

Catchya on the Flip Side.....

Emerald Wolf -- it's also not flammable like many of the afore mentioned compounds....(or stink like diesel as Brasso/Nevr-dull do)
