Ego-Pump (Yes, I Said Ego)

Final designs are done!!
(unassembled kits, raw/clear anodizing and black anodizing)

Assembled, black and raw/clear

Couple of Color Combos, anodizing through us is an option:
White Knight
(What my personal ego will look like)

Slime

Vampire/Lust

Trooper

Viper

UPDATE 4-20!!!
LPR arm is done and it looks awesome!

Update 4-19:
A few of the dimensions were slightly off, however it is an easy fix, pump arm is also going to be shortened.

so I love interesting markers and after seeing a post about an ego pump I wanted to make one, but one that keeps the aesthetics of the ego intact.

I knew that I had to run HPA until I saw this video, (thanks shadow!):
EGO on 12 grams
Link to discussion thread here:
I knew then that my full vision would be possible.

here's the concept (my ego's all white, but colors help more)
square stripe thing between pump and ego is a spring

pump arm needs to still be worked on. but I know it just needs a "U" type bend in the end to circle around the bolt, my prototype one works pretty well.

What do you guys think?

4-11-11 UPDATE: Prototype is finished! (Pictures below)
total cost to make was $0
UC guide was a tube from a candy thermometer from wally world that I bought a while back
Pump is from PGP2k project
Pump arm is rusty hanger that I found in a parking lot by my gf's house
Rubber band I had

Sorry for the poor quality pictures, I'm using my web-camera since I don't possess a good camera.
Overall picture (tape is holding the UC tube on right now, but it will eventually replace the LPR cover on the ego.

Sheridan Pump handle is on at the moment, will prob design one that mimics the ego lines and styling cues more, but it doesn't look half bad right now.

Rubber band used as a return spring, in final design this will be located behind the pump arm on the UC guide. Eventually the pump arm will connect directly to the bolt, but haven't figured anything out concrete yet, but this V bend seems to work, although it will have to wrap around in a U shape after rubber band is removed and spring is added to the UC guide.

My only concern would be the spacing between the lpr and the barrel to fit a pump handle. On a cocker there is a lot more room, the handle would have to be basically nothing on the top or middle like a big U shape. And with that in mind there would be no way to support it.

Also about CO2, the problem is getting liquid into the gun which would be more likely having the 12g in the front since you point the gun up. And regs are not designed to handle co2 so you could blow the seals in your reg. Co2 has a higher pressure than air and on a hot day co2 can go above 1000psi output which causes more wear on the reg and risk of failure.

I put a sheridan pump handle on my mock up and it's perfect, so I would stick with that design most likely.

As for the CO2, I think putting a 1/4" ~800psi NPT blow off valve between the 12g changer and reg should help with any pressure jumps. and also allow the liquid co2 to drip into the valve and expand there.

the valve might make the reg less comfortable to hold, but I'd rather have a sweet working setup than none at all.

otherwise, having a "front block" type setup with an extra expansion area below the pump is also another option, as the co2 would expand within that area then exit to the regulator.

the video also shows that it is possible if shooting speeds are kept to a minimum, and with a pump it would be, and I could even "cap" the ego to 5 bps (lowest it'll go) to make sure that nothing goes wrong with the regulator.

I've thought about this a lot within the last few days, and there would have to be a bunch of testing to make sure that I didn't damage the regulator at all.

Just put a PPS Stabilizer on it and let it eat all the liquid you feed it. Stabilizer don't give a ****; Stabilizer don't care.

Here is a ghetto example.

Pump ego --- Video - PbNation

And there was a pump intimidator pic floating around for awhile as well long before the talk of a BL pump gun.

Another idea would be to make an extended bolt that would allow you to attach the pump rod to the bolt instead of whatever ghetto modding it would take to attach it to the bolt pin.

Also, with a custom anno T-stock, and a sc feed, this thing would have some killer-smexy looks. All while being able to turn back into a 50bps unholy beast. Sounds like a winner.

the pump ego on pbnation was what gave me the idea in the first place.

the only thing I'd have to do with the bolt really is have an extended pin with a hole drilled in it either through the side, or the top.

and yes, i'm def thinking T stock and some sort of SC feed system.

Why not use a a discriminator valve to keep the liquid out. Discriminator valves let gas pass through but not liquid.

Leafy- that might work, I'd just have to find one that was 1/4 npt so it'll keep everything looking uniform.

EDIT: A discriminator valve may work, however at ~$100 I could just buy a new reg/noid for the ego if the old one happened to break.
