The K/T Splatmaster (Pic heavy)

Well the K/T splatmaster is the custom splatmaster that was modded for me by Kidney Theif (K/T)... I'm also a geologist and this has a dual meaning, the K/T impact was the large extraterrestrial impact that killed all of the dinos, good times... anyways...

I've grown really fond of splatmasters and I tried to mod it myself, and well here it is:

So then I came on MCB and found out Kidney Theif knows a lot about splatmasters and even was willing to take on a mod project for me. Kidney Theif was so knowledgable about these things and was willing to mod the splatmaster how ever I saw fit. We talked accuracyt, efficiency and the possibility of breaking the infamous 260fps speed barrier.

Kidney Theif machined a new brass barrel complete with porting, to the length I wanted, he even polished it for me. He made a new aluminum slider bar, cocking knob and trigger. He created a velocity adjuster inside the cocking knob which is awesomeness. Some of the not so standard stuff he did for me was a new detente; he put in a small ball bearing and milled the brass barrel around it, its nice. He took the stock bolt and milled a groove into the front end, which he then placed an oring on; this causes less air to flow backwards and is more efficient. He put screws into my grips i just pasted on, and now the grips are nicely screwed down. A nice touch that surprised me was the trigger shoe he put on the metallic trigger, thanks! He also gave me a new 8 ring front peice, cause the one I was using was a knockoff, nice bonus.

I added some drop on stuff like an upper and lower rail. I put a phantom peirce seal around the peirce pin to create a better seal with the 12 grams. I made this splatmaster to be rear loading, so I put the 10 round tube into the back of the marker. I also painted it myself, but I'm not happy with the paintjob since it looks like its going to all chip off. In the future I need to annodize the aluminum and get someone to strip the old paint and duracoat it. I am also looking into constant air, I have the adapter, just need to figure it out.

I made the ghost ring out of an old 12 gram.

Ok the pictures!

All the parts!

The valve, slider, cocking knob and trigger.

The shiney brass barrel.

The valve, notice the front of the black bolt has an oring on it.

The trigger, trigger shoe and safety.

The grips.

Everything put into the shell.

The shells are on, check out the allen key using the velocity adjuster.

And this is with the rails put on it.

So thats the K/T splatmaster. This has actually turned into my primary marker.

Very slick! Nice work "K/T"! You're sort of an extraterrestrial event yourself, aren't you?

Ivan, I hope you will give us a field report after you have "blooded" her.

Oh that's wicked. For fun, that should go on PBN too see how "old schkool" those kiddies are.

Awesome work, I look forward in hearing a full report on her once she's out on the field.

Awesome. What kind of velocity are you getting?

Glad you like it!!!

I was able to get it up around the 310 area with a new 12 gram...anything beyond that and it was way to hard to cock!

BTW if/when the bolt o-ring wears out its just a standard tank o-ring.

Kidney - did the addition of a bolt oring significantly improve the air efficiency? What else can be done to improve the splatty valve?

Outstanding. I briefly owned a splatmaster, but I gave up on it...

Yeah, that is probably one of the easiest most effective mods that i would recommend to anyone. If you ever get the chance to check your bolt to barrel fit you'll see why. There are a few other slap on mods you can do to the valve that help. You can put a small shim in between the bolt and the valve to shorten the dwell which also can reduce the hammer bounce cuased by the light carrier set.

The brass barrel and aluminum rail pretty much cuts that out. Then you can get into springing and the velocity adjuster.
