First Strike Sniper

Ok, so im going to begin a build. I've got a ion thats just collecting dust, and i've wanted a first strike gun for a while. The initial plan was to build a bolt action from scratch, but the cost would be more than that of the ion, so i'm just gonna use the ion and make it semi-auto. My plan is to flip the bolt assembely (name?) upside down, and making a mag well where the feedneck currently is. Then I can make a magazine so the gun will be clip fed. Ok, so as the base of my gun, what should I use? Airsoft shell, gun stock, or build a stock from scratch? Also I want to keep the dissasembley simple.

Just a heads up, even feeding from the top will require spring tension on the stack. Better to start with that in the design from the beginning than to figure is out later.

Yeah, unfortunately, due to the unbalanced nature of FS rounds (heavy in the front, hollow in the rear), gravity feed won't cut it, they'll fall nose-down into the breech and jam. Even spring tension may not be enough to make a top feed work correctly.

I've been thinking about this project, and I'm gonna use a different gun. For my First Strike Rifle I think i'll just use a traccer and make it bolt action. I'll save the ion for a different project. So as of now, a traccer is going to be used. Anyone got any input on what kind of stock to put it in?

i used an autococker for mine. turned out rather well, not the prettiest thing out there but it is super consistant and comfortable to use.

Sorry, my traccer doesn't ship untill tuesday. The day I get it though i'm going to get to work. I thought about using a tactical .22 stock, that way I could hide a 12gram in the buffer tube. Or I might just use a wood stock due to the fact that wood is easier to shape.

The best way to do a mag fed design is going to be a sidefeed mag with spring tension... similar to tippmann SMGs, but without the stripper clips, just mags with springs. All you would need to do it mill the body and create a magwell shroud, no flipping of the drive train or anything. If you wanted to keep the eyes they would have to be put in the top and bottom of the breech, as opposed to the left and right.
