Official Custom Spyder Build Off Thread

Here is the official Spyder Build Off thread:

Rules:

1) The Build Off officially starts August 1st, and ends on August 31st. This gives folks enough time to get started and getting the gun and some parts.

2) The Official gun is a Spyder (Any type of spyder) or similiar tubed blowback, such as a pirhana or viewloader. While a Spyder is ideal, this is for fun and not to break people's piggy banks, so the Spyder clones will be accepted.

3) Total amount allowed to spend on improving your Spyder: First Category is a total of: $100.00
Second Category is a total of $25.00

The total does not include the cost of the Gun itself, nor does it include the cost of anno.

Your total cost does include machine shop time if you pay to have it milled. Tooling is not included, but labor is. If you do your own labor, then that is free.

Parts on hand: Only 4 items are allowed. No matter how big or small. After that you need to figure out the retail current going price for any other parts after 4.

4) You may post your finished product at any time, or you can post along the way as you build it. While some may/can copy your idea, the upside of posting along the way is, we get to see it, and comment, and also give suggestions on improving! I personally will be posting the progress on mine as I go along.

Categories for judging the $100 improved are as follows:

Crowd Favorite (Overall Winner)
Most Unique Marker
Most Customized
Fastest Marker

The Under $25.00 Improved Spyder categories are:

Best Usage of a Demel
Most Customized
Crowd Favorite
Most Unique

The categories may change along the way.

This build off is on the honor system only. Please keep track of your expenses and where they were purchased (ebay, website, etc)

Resource Index:

Some Refurbished Spyders on Ebay: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZdorademfem

They can be found cheaper elsewhere, so look around.

If you are willing to help out with anno baths, etc, please post and let us know, I will update this section to reflect whom to contact. We understand you won't want to do it for free, but if you could do it at cost, or slightly above for your trouble it would be greatly appreciated for this build off/fun project.

More as I think of it, but that should cover most of it. Ask if you are unsure.

Carter

One suggestion if I may.

Could we possibly give the timeframe an added month? Maybe 1 Aug - 31 Sept. Im thinking a month wouldnt be enough time.

kidneytheif... We can always have an extension. I'll leave it as is for now, and see how it's coming along with folks, and we can decide from there.

I might be able to contribute. If people want them, I have about 10 or more bodies and parts for Bruizer Semi autos. They are spyder clones so if anyone needs them I would be willing to let them go cheaply.

PM me and maybe we can work something out.

IM contemplating either my Spyder TL with the Mako Storm grip, or my purple Joker.

Hard to judge if the spyder could be entered, the only stock things are the valve, body, and hammer.

How about a category for ugliest/sleeper? My goal with mine has been to make it a mismatched shooter.

Is the cost of tools included or seperate? In other words Say I want to replace a exsisting feed neck and need a tap to cut the body for an angel feed neck will the cost be deducted from the 100 or just the cost of the feed neck?

Just the cost of the feedneck and not the tooling.
