On the left side of the VA, or the right side?

the right, or the side closest to the trigger, but not so far back you pass the valve body.

I was planning on chopping the top clamshell, but it kills the look of the gun in my opinion. It's not like you need to take them apart very often.

I handle contract maintenance for one of the local field's fleet. It's a mix of Phiranhas and 98's.

What I've found is that the tippmanns go down about 1/4 as often, but they take about 5 times as long as a phiranha to fix... I average about 5-10 minutes on a piranha.

So to bring the 98s up to speed/reduce the frustration with repairing them, I've got a few dozen to cut in half. Just not dealing with the front site and barrel will be a huge improvement.

Also polishing internals makes a world of difference. Shoots a lot smoother.

bigballa it looks great thumbs up.

To answer your question about cutting up a tippy, got a bunch of pics somewhere to show you the level you ask.

As stated in the thread, it isn't an exact science, but you will need JB or Epoxy to fix any overcuts / oversanding

I have a project with my bro going right now, really worse case, you overcut / overmill, and you buy 2 more receivers, polishing the internals does help and there is an easy DIY thread on PBN. GL!

You mean the Zero Kick Hammer? It's alright. It definitely is lighter, which reduces kick, but it can be a pain to tune properly, especially with e-grips. Honestly, I'd just drill it out myself at that point.
